About Biomarker Technologies, Inc.

Biomarker Technologies, Inc. began its roots as Biomarker Technology when it was founded by CEO/President Dr. J. M.(Mike) Moldowan. Biomarker Technology was formed in 1993 to further the exploration, and development of the petroleum industry through direct consultation based on sample analyses performed by Biomarker Technology.

Professor J.M. (Mike) Moldowan attained a Ph.D. degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan in 1972. Relocating to California, he soon joined the Chevron biomarker team which pioneered many of the applications of biological marker technology to petroleum exploration. Mike joined the Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences of Stanford University as Professor (Research) in 1993, now Professor (Emeritus). At Stanford, he continued in research and development of biomarker technologies and petroleum exploration and production until 2012, when he founded the laboratory of Biomarker Technologies, Inc. He has served as Chair of the Division of Geochemistry of the American Chemical Society, and he has twice been awarded the Organic Geochemistry Division of the Geochemical Society Best Paper Award for publications he co-authored in 1978 and 1989. His resume includes more than 100 formal publications on biomarkers and geochemistry and co-authorship of the "go-to" books on biomarkers, "The Biomarker Guide Vol. 1 (Biomarkers and Isotopes in the Environment and Human History)" and "The Biomarker Guide Vol.2, (Biomarkers and Isotopes in Petroleum Systems and Earth History, 2^nd Edition)", Cambridge University Press, 2005. In 2011, Mike was awarded the Alfred Treibs Medal for major achievements over a period of years in organic geochemistry. Also, at that time, he was named a Geochemical Fellow of the Geochemical Society and a member of the European Association of Geochemistry.

Biomarker Technologies, Inc. is located at 638 Martin Avenue, Rohnert Park CA. It is located within a 7600 square foot building that was completed in May 2012 and houses a complete analytical laboratory with high-end equipment, including Agilent Technologies TQ-System and Agilent Technologies MSD.

Biomarker Technologies, Inc. is associated with GEMS S.A. Both entities joined forces in July 2012 in order to further expand the laboratory services being offered, and for Biomarker Technologies, Inc. to be able to offer unparalleled services more directly with South American companies. GEMS S.A. also owns a large scale, full analytical laboratory located in Bucaramonga, Colombia.
